Minolta Maxxum 7000 Introduced in 1985, the Maxxum was the first SLR camera to have autofocus built into the camera body. It was also the first to use the “A” mount with is compatible with the Sony-Alpha series. Another first was that it was made mostly of polycarbonate. It is incredibly light for a 1985 35mm SLR. These are great starter cameras for people coming back to film, at this price point there are few autofocus SLR cameras that sport all the modern features of the 7000. This example was very well kept and clean. It does have a slight bit of the Minolta whiteness that they all seem to have around the battery compartment. That being said the battery compartment has never corroded. Put batteries in it, everything checks out. At this price we can’t afford to shoot a roll of film through it as we do with the more expensive ones. Having owned a Nikon N90 in the 90’s, this camera tugged at my heart. When you click the shutter and the autowinder runs it is pure mechanical music, sounds like there are 60 gears inside whirring and purring. The autofocus is surprisngly quick for the era. Shipping Our items are well-packed, with valuable items in NEW double wall ULINE boxes, with plenty of bubble pack and peanuts. We prefer to ship with the post office, offering Priority or Ground service. Modern automated postal handling machines are not kind to fine antiques and collectables, and despite our best efforts at diligent packaging we have had items destroyed, and a few have simply vanished. For this reason, we will not ship any item with a value greater than $25 without adding insurance. As eBay has no way to do this, the insurance is added as a handling fee of $1.70. Large, heavy items we ship UPS ground. As we live 15 minutes from the nearest UPS store, please be patient with us when purchasing a large, heavy item. Any of our items are available for pickup at our Pinckney Michigan location. If you choose to pickup, either pay on eBay or bring cash, we do not take checks. If the item shows up damaged, destroyed, or doesn’t show up at all YOU need to work with us so we can submit the claim to ShipCover (eBay/USPS) or UPS. Take plenty of pictures, and don’t throw away the box or packaging. eBay quotes the shipping cost using post office or UPS API’s that return the rates. We don’t know what you were quoted. Some international rates quoted by eBay are just crazy.. When you purchase the item, we buy the shipping from eBay, print the label, and drop it off to the post office or the UPS store. Please don’t ask us to “reduce the shipping cost” – we can’t. It is not under our control. Please don’t counteroffer with “X amount including shipping” as we do not know what the shipping cost to your location is.. If you’re international, and you get a crazy rate from eBay, if you give us your full address we will quote shipment through Pirate Ship which may or may not give a better rate. Warranty Nothing we sell is new. These are used items. Everything is sold AS-IS unless explicitly stated otherwise. For electronic items, if they work, will add a video of it working.
