Product Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oil Paints – All Colours – 37ml Description Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oil Colour Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oil Colour offers the excellent advantage of faster drying times compared to traditional oil colours. This means that the traditional oil techniques of both impasto and glazing can be done in considerably less time and a painting can be completed in a single session. The 48 tones have a slightly greater level of transparency for increased depth and clarity when glazing. Formulation Winsor & Newton have over 170 years of experience in the making of oil colours. The choice of raw materials, formulation and manufacture of Griffin Fast Drying Oil Colour reflects this experience and provides a product of absolute excellence. The vehicle (oil modified alkyd resin) allows the colour to dry quicker whilst retaining the other characteristics of conventional oil colour. Permanence The highest quality raw materials and superior manufacturing standards are employed in formulating this range. The result is that, providing the artist uses sound painting techniques, oil and alkyds should share similar life spans. AA and A rated colours are recommended as permanent for artists’ use. Drying time The most outstanding advantage of the Griffin Fast Drying Oil Colour is the speed of drying. All colours in the range remain workable on the palette for 4 to 8 hours, and are touch dry on the canvas in 18 to 24 hours. The drying time will be affected by the thickness of the paint and the temperature of the environment, however. Features A fast-drying oil colour for quick sessions which is touch dry in 24 hours. Includes a 1.25oz / 37ml tube of Winsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd Fast Drying Oil Colour. Ideal for thick impasto techniques and underpainting. Available in 48 colours. Nutritional Information Ingredients Directions It is not advisable to apply any Winsor & Newton oil colours to paper that has not been primed. Ideally, it is recommended that you use paper that has been prepared specifically for oil colour, such as Griffin Alkyd Oil Colour Paper. If you decide to use ordinary paper, however, we would recommend applying at least one coat of Acrylic Gesso primer on both sides. Primer provides the correct surface absorbency, ensuring that oil does not penetrate the paper, which would leave nasty stains and could cause rotting. Oil colours applied to primed paper can then be varnished. But it is impossible to completely remove our Artists’ varnishes from either paper or primer, so it would be best to protect work on paper behind glass, ensuring that the glass does not touch the surface of the painting.
