eBay Welcome to “Dallas Valley Discoveries”. I have recently acquired the most amazing vintage watch collection at auction. This watch is from that collection, as are many other brands such as Girard Perregaux, Enicar, Hamilton, Mido, Bulova, Elgin, Benrus, Croton, and even Le Coultre. The collection also includes some lesser-known brands from the WW2 era and early midcentury, as well as some great 1970s pieces and high-end modern watches. I will be listing as quickly as I can, so please check frequently as these watches are first come first serve. Now, for the watch in this listing, continue reading below. This listing is for a lovely vintage Cariole, 17 jewel, men’s watch. Based on my research, I think this watch dates to the 1960s. I couldn’t find much information about this watch company, but it’s a really nice looking, vintage, dress watch. The case is made from Aluminum with a stainless steel, snap back caseback. The serial # on the caseback is 10715. The case size is 34 mm. The dial is a lovely, light silver color with gold number markers and hands, and black lettering. There is a day/date indicator on the dial but this is untested and I don’t know if it works. I’m also not sure how to set this. Right now the date is set on the number 20 and the day of the week slot is in between days. The watch has 17 jewels and is Swiss made. The watch looks nice but there are obvious signs of wear. The crystal is fairly scuffed on its surface. It’s still clear enough to view the dial through, but there are quite a lot of little nicks and scrapes across the surface so this is something the new owner will likely want to replace at some point. There are little nicks and chips in the silver finish of the case along the bottom rim, where it looks like tools may have been used to pry off the caseback, which isn’t surprising. Otherwise, there are small scratches and abrasions to the case finish which are appropriate for the watch’s age, and not bad at all. The watch has a one-piece expandable band that is in good functional condition in regard to stretching and snapping back to form. At the back of the band, two of the top caps have come off the band. I don’t know if matching caps can be found, but this is at the back of the watch band, so no one will notice if they are replaced with something similar. It may be easier to just replace the band. I have a number of new-old-stock watch bands that can be negotiated into the sell if the buyer wishes. The watch is running consistently at the time of listing. I can make no guarantees about its future working condition as I know nothing of its previous history or when it was last serviced. It winds with ease and runs steadily, but I have not tested it’s time keeping accuracy, or the function of the date window. As a vintage item, the new owner should anticipate the cost of having the watch serviced to guarantee its future working condition. You are buying the watch AS IS. I’ve included video of the watch running so interested buyers may feel confident of its working condition. After purchase, before I ship, I will check the watch again and take a second video of it running as proof of its working condition at the time of shipping. If I discover the watch has stopped working, I will contact the buyer so he or she may reconsider the purchase and either renegotiate a price or cancel the sell all together. If the watch is running, as it should be, I’ll video the watch and let the buyer know the watch has shipped. Once the watch leaves my possession at the post office, the sell is final. This watch will make a great addition to one’s vintage watch collection. Pictures are to be considered as part of the description.
