U.S. Marine Operations in Korea 1950-1953 Vol. 1-5 Audiobooks in 5 MP3 Audio CDs Read by Aaron Bennett U.S. Marine Operations in Korea, 1950-1953, Volume 1: The Pusan PerimeterLynn Montross (1895 – 1961) and Nicholas Canzona (1925 – 1985)Running Time:07:39:16 in 1 MP3 Audio CDGenre(s): War & Military, HistoryIt meant little to most Americans on 25 June 1950 to read in their Sunday newspapers that civil strife had broken out in Korea. They could hardly have suspected that this remote Asiatic peninsula was to become the scene of the fourth most costly military effort of American history, both in blood and money, before the end of the year. With a reputation built largely on amphibious warfare, Marines of the 1st Brigade were called upon to prove their versatility in sustained ground action. On three separate occasions within the embattled Perimeter—south toward Sachon and twice along the Naktong River—these Marine units hurled the weight of their assault force at the enemy. …and at no point did Marines give ground except as ordered. The quality of their performance in the difficult days of the Pusan Perimeter fighting made them a valuable member of the United Nations team and earned new laurels for their Corps. Forward and PrefaceChapter 1, Part 1 – Korea, Doorstep of StrategyChapter 1, Part 2 – Korea, Doorstep of StrategyChapter 2, Part 1 – Red Aggression in KoreaChapter 3, Part 1 – The Marine BrigadeChapter 3, Part 2 – The Marine BrigadeChapter 4, Part 1 – The Advance PartyChapter 4, Part 2 – The Advance PartyChapter 5, Part 1 – Prelude to BattleChapter 5, Part 2 – Prelude to BattleChapter 6, Part 1 – Action on Hill 342Chapter 6, Part 2 – Action on Hill 342Chapter 7, Part 1 – Advance to KosongChapter 7, Part 2 – Advance to KosongChapter 8, Part 1 – Fight on Two FrontsChapter 8, Part 2 – Fight on Two FrontsChapter 9, Part 1 – The Battle of the NaktongChapter 9, Part 2 – The Battle of the NaktongChapter 10, Part 1 – Obong-ni RidgeChapter 10, Part 2 – Obong-ni RidgeChapter 11, Part 1 – Second NaktongChapter 11, Part 2 – Second NaktongChapter 12, Part 1 – Mission CompletedChapter 12, Part 2 – Mission Completed U.S. Marine Operations in Korea, 1950-1953, Volume 2: The Inchon-Seoul OperationLynn Montross (1895 – 1961) and Nicholas Canzona (1925 – 1985)Running Time:10:49:27 in 1 MP3 Audio CDGenre(s): War & Military, HistoryThe Inchon Landing was a major amphibious operation, planned in record time and executed with skill and precision. Even more, it was an exemplification of the fruits of a bold strategy executed by a competent force. The decision to attack at Inchon involved weakening the line against enemy strength in the Pusan Perimeter in order to strike him in the rear. It involved the conduct of an amphibious attack under most difficult conditions of weather and geography. It ultimately culminated with combat in the heart of Seoul. As early as 19 July, the dynamic ROK leader had made it plain that he did not propose to accept the pre-invasion status quo. He served notice that his forces would unify Korea by driving to the Manchurian border. Since the Communists had violated the 38th Parallel, the aged Rhee declared, this imaginary demarcation between North and South no longer existed. He pointed out that the sole purpose of the line in the first place had been to divide Soviet and American occupation zones after World War II, in order to facilitate the Japanese surrender and pave the way for a democratic Korean government. Anticipating his authority for crossing the 38th Parallel, CINCUNC on 26 September had directed his Joint Special Plans and Operations Group (JSPOG) to develop a plan for operations north of the border. The ability of the Marines to fight their way through twelve Chinese divisions over a 78-mile mountain road in sub-zero weather cannot be explained by courage and endurance alone. It also owed to the high degree of professional forethought and skill as well as the “uncommon valor” expected of all Marines. Kuokka (1913 – 2008) and Norman W. Hicks (1925 – 2003)Running Time:10:01:13 in 1 MP3 Audio CDGenre(s): War & Military, HistoryThis is the fourth in a series of five volumes dealing with the operations of United States Marines in Korea during the period 2 August 1950 to 27 July 1953. Volume IV presents in detail the operations of the 1st Marine Division and 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, the former while operating under Eighth Army control and also as part of IX Corps and X Corps, USA, and the latter while controlled by the Fifth Air Force. The period covered in this volume begins in the latter part of December 1950, when the Division rested in the Masan “bean patch,” and continues through the guerrilla hunt, the Punchbowl fighting, and all other operations during 1951. The account ends when the Marines move to positions in the west during March 1952. Yingling (1922 – 2013) and Patricia Meid (1928 – 2020)Running Time:21:18:15 in 1 MP3 Audio CDGenre(s): War & Military, HistoryIn March 1952 the 1st Marine Division redeployed from the East-Central front to West Korea. This new sector, nearly 35 miles in length, anchored the far western end of I Corps and was one of the most critical of the entire Eighth Army line. Here the Marines blocked the enemy’s goal of penetrating to Seoul, the South Korean capital. Northwest of the Marine Main Line of Resistance, less than five miles distant, lay Panmunjom, site of the sporadic truce negotiations Forward and PrefaceChapter 1, Part 1 Operations In West Korea BeginChapter 1, Part 2 Operations In West Korea BeginChapter 1, Part 3 Operations In West Korea BeginChapter 1, Part 4 Operations In West Korea BeginChapter 1, Part 5 Operations In West Korea BeginChapter 2, Part 1 Defending the LineChapter 2, Part 2 Defending the LineChapter 2, Part 3 Defending the LineChapter 2, Part 4 Defending the LineChapter 2, Part 5 Defending the LineChapter 2, Part 6 Defending the LineChapter 3, Part 1 The Battle of Bunker HillChapter 3, Part 2 The Battle of Bunker HillChapter 3, Part 3 The Battle of Bunker HillChapter 3, Part 4 The Battle of Bunker HillChapter 3, Part 5 The Battle of Bunker HillChapter 4, Part 1 Outpost Fighting ExpandedChapter 4, Part 2 Outpost Fighting ExpandedChapter 4, Part 3 Outpost Fighting ExpandedChapter 4, Part 4 Outpost Fighting ExpandedChapter 4, Part 5 Outpost Fighting ExpandedChapter 5, Part 1 The HookChapter 5, Part 2 The HookChapter 5, Part 3 The HookChapter 5, Part 4 The HookChapter 6, Part 1 Positional WarfareChapter 6, Part 2 Positional WarfareChapter 6, Part 3 Positional WarfareChapter 6, Part 4 Positional WarfareChapter 6, Part 5 Positional WarfareChapter 7, Part 1 VegasChapter 7, Part 2 VegasChapter 7, Part 3 VegasChapter 7, Part 4 VegasChapter 7, Part 5 VegasChapter 8, Part 1 Marking Time (April-June 1953)Chapter 8, Part 2 Marking Time (April-June 1953)Chapter 8, Part 3 Marking Time (April-June 1953)Chapter 8, Part 4 Marking Time (April-June 1953)Chapter 8, Part 5 Marking Time (April-June 1953)Chapter 9, Part 1 Heavy Fighting Before the ArmisticeChapter 9, Part 2 Heavy Fighting Before the ArmisticeChapter 9, Part 3 Heavy Fighting Before the ArmisticeChapter 9, Part 4 Heavy Fighting Before the ArmisticeChapter 9, Part 5 Heavy Fighting Before the ArmisticeChapter 10, Part 1 Return of the Prisoners of WarChapter 10, Part 2 Return of the Prisoners of WarChapter 10, Part 3 Return of the Prisoners of WarChapter 10, Part 4 Return of the Prisoners of WarChapter 10, Part 5 Return of the Prisoners of WarChapter 11, Part 1 While Guns CoolChapter 11, Part 2 While Guns CoolChapter 11, Part 3 While Guns CoolChapter 12, Part 1 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 2 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 3 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 4 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 5 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 6 Korean ReflectionChapter 12, Part 7 Korean Reflection Our Audiobooks are Complete and Unabridged (unless otherwise indicated)Our Audiobooks are always read by real people, never by computers. Please Note: These recorded readings are from the author’s original works which are in the public domain.
