Each sought to be set apart as the leader in style and design. The crash had not yet hit and money flowed freely from Wall Street to Fifth Avenue; customers could afford to pay whatever it took to have the finest, the best, the brightest. With the Jazz age in full kick, Elgin Watch Company decided to garner the spot as the finest house for ladies timepieces. They commissioned the brightest designers — among them the famed artist Lucien Lelong — to create watches that would sum up the energy and sex appeal of the Deco movement.What better watch to exemplify the “razzamatazz” of the gin-spritzed Arts and Crafts/Deco Era than this incredible white gold-filled work of wrist art?This absolutely outstanding ladies 32mm by 16mm “Arts and Crafts” rectangular Elgin with stippled 14k white gold-filled case is so attractive it’s hypnotic.This was a radical departure from anything anyone knew about the newfangled wristwatch of the era.
