You are bidding on one as-is lot of three irons or blades or cutters for a Stanley No 51 or No 52 or No 57 or No 58 wood spokeshave as pictured. There are condition issues with all three, mainly length. From left to right in the first picture, they include:— an iron marked “STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO” in a semi-circle. Width at the lower edge is about a 32nd under 2-1/8″. Length measured down the middle is about 1-1/2″, with about .135″ or a hair over 1/8″ remaining between the sharp edge and the center hole. — an iron marked “STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO” in a smaller semi-circle than the iron on the left. Width at the lower edge is a hair under 2-1/8″. Length measured down the middle is just over 1-1/2″, with about .155″ or a bit over 1/8″ remaining between the sharp edge and the center hole. The edge is sharpened on a curve, and if you sharpened it in a straight line, you would lose at least a 32nd of that 1/8″. — and an iron marked with the later style of the STANLEY sweetheart logo (top of heart flush with the bottom of the rectangle) and “MADE IN USA” below that. Width at the lower edge is about 2-1/8″. Length measured down the middle is just over 1-9/16″, with about .235″ or a bit under 1/4″ remaining between the sharp edge and the center hole. Condition of both of the Stanley Rule & Level irons is good other than being short, with some scattered patina (color) and a few hints of pitting on the front side of each one, and some casting roughness on the back side of each one. Condition of the sweetheart iron is very good other than being short, reasonably bright and shiny with some flattening done by a prior owner on the front side, and some modest casting roughness on the back side. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it’s not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20″ long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30″ long, because those longer packages won’t fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay.
