Up for Buy it Now or best offer is an original Pen & Ink created by Marvel Comics artist DAN ADKINS (1937-2013) I am a bit stumped on the subject in this artwork. Of course it looks like a possible superhero traveling through space in a bubble. But who is in the bubble? Since there is not a DC Comics or Marvel copyright stamp on the back, my guess is that this was never published. A couple weeks back I showed this art to a friend, Jim Steranko, yes the comic artist, He said that he worked on a lot of art projects over the years with Dan Adkins. Jim felt that it was just an idea that he had possibly for a new Superhero ? So unless someone out there knows some more about this artwork, I will just call it Adkins original concept art. My late brother, Artist , illustrator George A. Bush and Dan were longtime friends and often traded artwork with each other. Bush George was well known in the art industry throughout his career spanning from the late 1970's to the late 1990's. There were not a lot of his original works sold publicly till now, after his unfortunate passing. Prices on his paintings that did sell to the public through places like Heritage Auctions, eBay and some private galleries, ranged from $750 to $10,000.00 and that was years ago. Around 2001 George was diagnosed with M.S. ( Multiple Sclerosis ). A disease that affects different people in different ways. For George the first sings of something being wrong started with his eyesight. Of all things to be affected first, for him as a professional artist on the top of his career, he told me that he was having spells where his vision started jumping / twitching as he described it. That was in 1995 and ever so slightly it got worse as time went on. He kept on with his artwork till his vision got to the point where it took him months to complete just 1 painting. That was around 1998. His wife was a really good artist so she continued a bit doing paintings for paperback book covers. It was a joint effort as George with several different reading glasses taped together would do some of-the higher detailed areas on her paintings like the faces and hands. Slowly George started losing his balance and the strength in his legs, then in his arms. It was so hard to see such a talented Brother just fade away. Unfortunately with a name like his, web searches keep popping up things related to the former president George W. Bush.
