This is a custom 12″ figure lot of fictional western TV characters, Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry from the early 1970’s tv show “Alias Smith and Jones”. Pete Duel played the role of Hannibal Heyes (alias Joshua Smith) and Ben Murphy played the part of Jedidiah “Kid” Curry (alias Thaddeus Jones). Heyes and Curry are fairly successful, mostly non-violent outlaw cousins who have never been convicted of a crime. During all the holdups and banks and trains they have robbed throughout their career these afable bandits have never killed anybody. Heyes is the brains of the operation and a master safe cracker. Kid Curry is one of the fastest, most accurate gunman of the old West. The former leaders of the “Devil’s Hole Gang realize that times are changing. Safes are getting tougher to crack, banks and trains harder to rob, plus gang members are more reckless and less trustworthy. All this with posses breathing down their neck. Heyes and Curry hear of an amnesty program that the Governor is doing. The duo speak to an old friend of theirs, Sheriff Lom Trevors played by James Drury. Lom helps set things up through the Governor for Heyes and Curry to receive conditional amnesty. The lovable outlaws have to stay clean and crime free for a year or so until the governor feels they have earned the right to permanent amnesty. Meanwhile the two outlaws will still be wanted men and hunted by bounty hunters, posses, etc. To help throw off authorities and anyone hunting them they start going by the names Joshua Smith (Heyes) and Thaddeus Jones (Curry). This show had some great recurring characters and excellent stories as the cousins try to stay out of trouble. The series was on tv from January 1971 through January 1973. The series was very popular until after the untimely death of Pete Duel during season two. Roger Davis (who had been the narrator) took on the Heyes role, but the show was not as popular. You can sometimes find this series on DVD or maybe channels that run old television shows or channels that run old westerns. While this figure lot does not look exactly like the characters or the actors, there is a nice resemblance. Please Note that these figures are not quite as articulate as some of my figures but, this figure lot displays well. please note the six-guns are from marxman, gunbelts/ holsters are custom made. sold as is. stands included. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own.
