Your purchase will consist of Six (6) RFC Model 63-1SP-3278 Silver Plated Body & Center Pin PL-259 Type straight solder connectors and Six (6) RFC Model 63-89S (UG-176 Type) Silver Reducers for RG-8X (Mini 8), RG-59, or LMR-240, all sealed in factory packages. Without the reducers, this connector may be used with RG-8, RG-213, RG-214, Belden 9913, Belden 8214, LMR-400 and other similar 400 series and RG-8 Type coax cables. Without exception, these are truly quality RF connectors!Unlike Nickel plated bodies requiring more preparation time & heating for soldering, these Silver Pin & Body connectors will be a quick, easy and positive soldering experience. The coupling nut only is nickel plated which saves on costs. Additionally, a silver plated body offers less resistive coupling, and thus better power transfer with less heat, especially at higher RF-power levels. Since Silver is one of the best conductors of electrons, and because RF energy flows in both the center tip and connector body, it follows that both a silver plated tip and silver plated body is the better way to go. Soldering is a craft requiring proper tools including the correct solder alloy, correct flux content, correct heat and other tools. It requires proper preparation of the components to be joined and it also requires skill. Years ago, minimal soldering skills could accomplish acceptable soldering connections for RF connectors on coax.Today, low loss coax cables such as LMR and others, use gas-injected foam technology replacing the old solid polyethylene dielectric (insulator). This technology, while helping to create a superior conducting coax, has conversely introduced a potential problem, especially for the occasional solderer. A little too much heat applied during the soldering process, can easily result in damage to this temperature sensitive foam insulator, resulting in distortion and melting, creating a brown, tarry substance ultimately resulting in impedance characteristic changes to the cable. My suggestion / recommendation for all levels of soldering skills is to always use connectors with a Silver Plated body and tip, which not only greatly speeds up the soldering process helping eliminate overheating, but also enhances RF signal flow. Mechanical: Superior quality construction consisting of a 30-micron silver plated body and center contact tip, for ease of soldering & low contact resistance, an 80-micron, never tarnishing nickel plated barrel nut for durability, and a lifetime of luster and brilliance, and DuPont™ Teflon® dielectric known for its inert properties, permittivity, strength, and higher withstanding voltages over a wide range of frequencies and temperatures. The premium silver plating assures a quick and positive soldering experience. We’ve received nice comments about this connector from many purchasers in our feedback. Because Teflon® is a very slippery material, the base of the Silver Center Pin incorporates 19 splines which eliminates any “axial spin” within the Teflon®. Additionally, the Teflon® disc with center pin is retained inside the connector body using both a 360-degree “roll crimp” plus a 120-degree lateral “dimple crimp”. Better parts design and double crimping means trouble-free issues and longer life. Electrical: 50-Ohm impedance, variable, DC to 300-Mhz (Commonly used up to 512-Mhz range), Voltage Rating of 500V Peak. Operating temperature range is from -65C to 165C (-85F to 329F).
