LOUIS XV CARVED GILTWOOD PIER TABLE WITH CONFORMING MARBLE TOP France, circa mid-to-late 18th century Item # 405FKP22P A gorgeous carved and pierced giltwood console table from the Louis XV period, it features a carved pine body with full shell motifs in the corners framed in opposing C-scrolls flanking a pierced rocaille in the focal point of the apron surrounded by cascades of swirling foliage over cabriole legs arranged in two parts: flowing inward and flowing outward in opposing c-scrolls terminating on scrolled toes. The legs are firmly locked in place with a full stretcher that echoes the inspiration of the apron in its lobed shell, this time delicated surrounded by a naturalistic halo with outward flowing flowers on a vine mostly encircling it. The top is a stunning piece of marble with wonderful variation throughout, the underside carved with an inset that perfectly matches the profile of the table and raises it before projecting over the edges. A medial cross-bar is dovetailed fore-and-aft into the frame and is stamped illegibly. A fine presentation. Measurements: 30 3/4″ H x 14 1/2″ D x 25″ W Condition Report: Marble top appears to be original with perfect oxidization matchup; flaking and losses to gilding throughout, much with later inpaint and regilt, the surface presenting with a lovely well-preserved overall patina; holes drilled in the back bar in several areas where it has been mounted to the wall over the years; sturdy and very strong. FREIGHT SHIPMENTS We offer economical and speedy freight service for most locations in the lower 48 States via the major LTL freight carriers. Delivery is generally 5-10 business days after packing is complete for the East Coast and 15-20 business days after packing is complete for the West Coast. Rush service is available so just contact us for a quote if there is a project deadline. The Process:The item is professionally packaged by our in-house team, palletized and shipped on a tractor trailer. Packing happens on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays so if your purchase comes through on a Wednesday, it may not be packed until the following Tuesday depending on our packing schedule.We release the palletized shipment to the LTL freight firm and upload tracking information to your orderOnce the freight has made it to the terminal nearest to your home, the dispatch team will notify the buyer and schedule a delivery day. The buyer is then required to make the necessary arrangements to receive and inspect the goods. Some freight firms will offer a delivery window while others will require the buyer or a representative for the buyer to be available the entire day. Please note, drivers are never allowed to call the buyer to update them on an expected delivery time, though it may be possible for the buyer to call the terminal and get a rough idea on updated timing throughout the day.On delivery day, the tractor trailer will arrive at the residence and the truck driver will lower the palletized shipment to the nearest curb with a lift-gate where the buyer will then be responsible for bringing it into the home, unpacking and disposing of the packing materials.
